Party the TWA Way!

We rolled out the red tarmac for our opening celebration.

Past perfect! On September 28, more than 2,000 guests put on their best 60s chic attire to celebrate the opening of the TWA Hotel. Surprises — from a new 1962 living room museum exhibit to Mister Softee — waited around every penny-tiled turn. Scroll down to see photos and earn your party wings.

 The Aqualillies

The famed Aqualillies made quite a splash, entertaining crowds with a synchronized swimming performance in the rooftop infinity pool.

Twist and shout! The Four Seasons Tribute band — who played retro tunes throughout the evening — took a break to give the hotel's new Twister room a spin.

 The TWA Hotel Bosque

Just outside the hotel, the Bosque — where a 1963 Intelligentsia Citroën coffee truck is ready to roll — made an ideal spot to enjoy the balmy night.

 Tarmac Bootcamp

Tarmac bootcamp, anyone? Guests squeezed in a pre-party workout right on the runway led by TWA Fitness General Manager JT Netterville (and Connie!).

All the news that was fit to print in 1962! Partygoers paged through vintage periodicals at the hotel's newsstand.

 TWA Hotel Tablescape

Around the world without leaving the airport: Tablescapes referenced former TWA flight destinations (like Hong Kong).

 Guests Enjoying the TWA Hotel

The night wasn't complete without some old-fashioned entertainment: posing in a photo booth, scooping up ice cream from Mister Softee and (rotary) dialing a friend on one of the hotel's vintage pay phones.

Guests in the 1960s Room Exhibit

Guests made themselves at home in the new interactive 1962 living room exhibit, admiring Barbie's Dreamhouse, flipping through stacks of records and even trying on 1960s fashions!

Guests in the Connie Cocktail Lounge

Aboard Connie — the hotel's 1958 Lockheed Constellation airplane turned cocktail lounge — it was first class all the way as partygoers sipped martinis and dined on caviar.

Guests in the Fiat Jolly 500

Race you to the retro wheels! A vintage Fiat Jolly 500 in front of a retro image of the TWA Flight Center provided a speedy photo opp.
